It’s a typical day at an American high school campus. Gaggles of students walk around wearing earbuds, or sneaking looks at their personal digital assistant (PDA), formally known as the cell phone. They check their Facebook and Twitter pages, they send off a dozen text messages, they blog, and they read updates on their favorite musical group, all in less than a few minutes. 21 st century teens know how to multi-task: they can hang out with their friends and talk on the phone; they can listen to a lecture and text message; they can research and chat on AIM.

There’s a reason why the birther  movement is existing in a zombie-like state, mercilessly being mocked at first by liberal (and moderate bloggers), then by the mainstream media and people who watch/read either. Outside of the dubious arguements and evidence being put forth, that is. On of the problems is to your left. The name of the lawyer / dentist / real estate agent that has been one of the faces of the movement to prove that President Obama is not a (natural born) citizen of the United States is Orly Taitz.

In early 2008 I spoke at the Secret Society of Traffic and Conversion Seminar for my friends Buck Rizvi and Brock Felt. The attendees paid thousands to be there but I’m sharing my 3 hour presentation from the seminar with you for free. I outlined the social networking and web 2.0 strategies that I personally use to drive tons of traffic to build my list and make more sales. The outage that knocked Twitter offline for hours was traced to an attack on a lone blogger in the former Soviet republic of Georgia — but the collateral damage that left millions around the world tweetless showed just how much havoc an isolated cyberdispute can cause. “It told us how quickly many people really took Twitter into their hearts,” Robert Thompson, director of the Center for the Study of Popular Television at Syracuse University, said Friday.

Yesterday Twitter went down. I’d already been bleeding my most boring tweets off by using Backpack’s Journal and fulfilling two purposes: Re-routing my impulse to tweet about mundane things into, as I mentioned, Backpack’s Journal; And thus creating a log of my activities, a kind of diary. Did I mention personal use of Backpack is free? – http://backpackit.com/ And I really appreciate that because I’ve set up the Reminders to send me email when bills are due or automatic withdrawals are scheduled.

While businesses used to rely on email they can now use forums, social networking sites, RSS feeds, and tons of other means. One great way to talk to your customers and colleagues is through blogging. While blogging has gained a lot of popularity for social networking and keeping tabs on celebrities, it’s also a great way to keep customers up to date on news, products, opinions, or just about anything.

Activision-Blizzard held their second quarter conference call yesterday, and in addition to addressing the Starcraft II delay , both Mike Morhaime and Activision CEO Bobby Kotick shared some insight into what the revamped Battle.net will be like. The brand new system (which is currently up and working , albeit in a very skeleton form so far) will have “social networking features, cross-game communication, [and] unified account management,” in addition to features that will let players “share experiences” with each other online (we’d presume that means things like screenshot galleries and leaderboards, but who knows?).

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin called President Obama’s health plan “downright evil” Friday in her first online comments since leaving office, saying in a Facebook posting that he would create a “death panel” that would deny care to the neediest Americans. “Who will suffer the most when they ration care? The sick, the elderly, and the disabled, of course,” the former vice Republican presidential candidate wrote on her Facebook page, which has nearly 700,000 supporters.
